Whether you realise it or not, Darq E Freaker is someone the majority have heard in some form or another; whether it be through his own tracks, or his production credits on hits such as "Can't Go Wrong" from Wiley's critically and commercially acclaimed album, Godfather, or Tempa T's "Next Hype". This Friday (February 16), the beatsmith releases a dual single in "Red Velvet"/"Butterscotch"—the latter of which can be heard exclusively below. Mixed by Grammy winner Eric J Dubowski, the track is inspired by rave settings with a pitched-up vocal looping over the high tempo beat.
Speaking on the tracks, Darq E Freaker told Complex: "'Red Velvet' and 'Butterscotch' are inspired by the UK rave music I grew up with — but seen through the lens of my experiences in the last few years: traveling, going to events and working with people all over the world. I also wanted to make music that you could almost touch and taste, a representation of everyday objects or experiences which bled through directly into the track names and vocal themes on these singles."
