You have to admire Pink’s commitment. On Saturday morning, the Beautiful Trauma singer told fans she was battling the flu ahead of her “National Anthem” performance at the 2018 Super Bowl. Though she admits that the past few days have been a struggle, she reassured her followers that the show was still on.

“Trying to practice the flu away. I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song,” she wrote on Instagram. “[…] I will tell you, this is one of the biggest honors of my life, singing this song in front of my family, my military family, my dad, and brother and step mama and family and the world. And the EAGLES!?!?! I promise I will do my best, as I always do.”

According to TMZ, a source said Pink had difficulty getting through Thursday night’s rehearsal, and that those involved with the performance left feeling concerned. Despite the viral infection, Pink did perform at Friday’s pre-Super Bowl concert in Minneapolis; however, she reportedly relied on backup singers and the audience to sing the tracks.

“I’m not going to sound like (crap) all night because you guys are going to help me,” she told the crowd, according to CBS Minnesota. “We’re going to rock the (expletive) out and have a good time.”

Let’s hope she brings that same energy to Sunday’s game.
