"King's Dead" was the second single from Black Panther: The Album and gave Rock his first ever Billboard Hot 100-cracking song, debuting at No. 91 in January. Rock is joined on the album by additional talent from TDE and beyond including SZA, Schoolboy Q, Travis Scott, the Weeknd, 2 Chainz, Swae Lee, Vince Staples, and more.

Initially, the plan was only to get Lamar to put together a handful songs for the film. But when Lamar saw early footage of director Ryan Coogler's work, a full-blown album was born. "When we got back from [the Damn. Tour] in September, that's when we were able to execute our ideas and reach out to people we respect and whatnot ... kind of just put the stamp on it," producer Sounwave, who helmed the majority of the tracks on the album, toldNPR. "So, I want to say those two months was the most vital on that tour, in terms of creative process."

Rock will join Lamar and the Top Dawg team for this summer's Championship Tour. The two-month trek begins May 4 in Vancouver and wraps in Pittsburgh in June.
