For the lead single on his upcoming album Planet, Tech N9ne took it back—way back.

"Tech N9ne (Don't Nobody Want None)," which Complex premieres today, is a remake of Hashim's seminal 1983 electro-funk track "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)." The video, which you can see above, features plenty of era-appropriate b-boy moves.

The homage makes sense, given that Tech's hip-hop career started with him as a dancer, well before rapping entered the picture.

"It’s an honor to be able to re-do 'Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)' on this album to pay homage to all the breakdancers and all the DJs, all the dance crews," Tech told Complex. "That’s me. I started out break dancing and pop-lockin. Then I started rhyming and then rapping just took over. I never forgot where I started though."

The track is the first release from Planet, which comes out on March 2. The record features contributions from Machine Gun Kelly, Snow Tha Product, Tech's longtime collaborator and onstage foil Krizz Kaliko, and more.

"I wanted to create my own planet because this one seems to be having so many problems with hatred and murders," Tech explained. "I just wanted to leave this planet and create my own, with love and lyrics."
