After Black Thought announced that he's working on a project with legendary producer 9th Wonder, it seems at least two or three other hip-hop greats have something in the works too. Talib Kweli went to Instagram to post a photo showing Kanye West and Yasiin Bey huddled around a table that's topped with scattered handwritten notes; Pablo legal pad vibes?! It seems Ye is in the process of writing something down as Bey is talking. "2018 is looking good," read Kweli's caption.
Dare we hope for some Blackstar x Yeezy?
This news comes after producer Anthony Kilhoffer tweeted for G.O.O.D. Music fans to "keep an eye out" for new music on the horizon. It's uncertain if this is what he was talking about, but since Yasiin is a former member of the Ye-founded label, it's not unlikely that it is.
Back in 2016, Bey announced he has three albums on the way. Since then, he's released the Tidal-exclusive project Dec 99th, and was slated to release Negus in Natural Person as well as a Mannie Fresh collaboration dubbed As Promised. However, 2017 came and went without any new projects from the Brooklyn rhymer.
Bey also said that he would be retiring in 2016. But he's since performed with Dave Chappelle during the comedian NYC's residency at Radio City Music Hall last year. And now it looks like he'll be delivering some more for his fans.
As for Ye, it's been two years since he dropped The Life of Pablo. He was teasing a new album called Turbo Grafx 16 shortly after, but it never came to light. This time around, he could be working on that LP or an entirely new project. West supposedly has a bunch of tracks with Lil Uzi Vert and Migos as well.
