Jussie Smollett, who stars on Empire as a budding recording artist, has proven in the past that he has the real-life chops to pursue a music career—just check the show's multiple soundtracks. In 2018, he's turning that role into a reality.
Earlier this month, Smollett released his solo debut single, "Freedom," and today he returns with the accompanying visual that shines a light on love. The powerful performance stars Tika Sumpter and Cynthia Erivo, who play a couple living their best life together and surrounded by those they care about.
"This video is about love," Smollett tells Complex. "I wanted to show two people doing the everyday things that every single couple does. I see nothing but beauty through the eyes of these characters we've created. I hope everyone else does as well. Love is freedom. Freedom is love. Enjoy!"
