After Kendrick Lamar and SZA ruled 2017 with DAMN. and Ctrl, respectively, Top Dawg Entertainment is moving onto the next phase of music releases starting with SiR. The California-based label posted a clip of SiR's "Something Foreign" video on Instagram with a caption marking Jan. 19. 2018 as a hint for his forthcoming album's release date.

The release date would mark the one-year anniversary of when CEO Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith revealed that SiR signed to Top Dawg. "I’ve been listening to those cats for a long time," SiR said to Billboard about TDE. "If I were ever to pull influence from anything, I would definitely pull from those cats. Their work ethic and their sound is just so unique. I felt like if I were to go anywhere that would be the best place for me to be able to expand creatively."

The upcoming release will serve as SiR's debut album and follow up last February's Her Too EP, which featured a guest appearance from Anderson .Paak. More recently, he dropped "Something New" and "Something Foreign," two singles that featured Etta Bond and ScHoolboy Q respectively. SiR dropped a psychedelic video for the latter on Dec. 27.
