Breaking up is hard to do. That's a universally accepted truth that's informed the vast bulk of popular music since the dawn of time. What's even harder than, however, is to maintain your dignity and your pride in what can be a deeply traumatising time. Emerging UK singer-songwriter Maiday perfectly distills all of that and more into her latest single "Some Hard Feelings". I wish you the best / At least that's what I tell people, she sings agonisingly. While your outward demeanour may be protecting your bruised pride, there's a certain strength in knowing you ended the relationship for the right reason.

Maiday explained to Complex via email: "It's a song about a problematic person that I loved loads and don't love anymore. And that sucks—but I'm at an age where I know what I'll put up with and what I won't. I'm also not the type of person to sugar coat things, especially in my music. Sorry for the swears but sometimes there is no clean version."
