Mason Betha has been back in rap convos these days for a few reasons. The Harlem veteran dropped a lyrical murder towards Cam’ron on “The Oracle,” and fans were excited to hear that the old Mase from the '90s and beloved Bad Boy era was back, only now he was sharper and wiser.

Mase became a topic once again when Rap Radar’s Brian “B.Dot” Miller claimed he was a better MC over Styles P and lyrically on par with Jadakiss. This set off a heated debate on Mase’s exact place among legendary East Coast rappers.

You said Mase was better than Styles. You lucky we still discussing hip hop with you at all.
kiss and styles have great chemistry. but ma$e, in his heyday (maybe now?), was on lyrically on par with jadakiss. he was witty, clever, and charismatic. https://t.co/MLSxqcUCm1
Mase ain’t better than Jadakiss or Styles at anything in life
How you gonna say mase better than Styles? SMH
In what world do mase even stand next to Jadakiss lyrically come on
Mase rapper > Styles P rapper
Mase hits > Styles P hits
Styles P catalog > Mase catalog

Still accurate.
1. Biggie
2. Jadakiss
3. Mase
4. Styles P

You're right, Mase is way better than your favorite MC. pic.twitter.com/KsRTHvbYRn
BDot said Mase was better than Styles and this nigga done dropped a song everyday since.

Charlamagne tha God even asked Jadakiss about the discussion with Fabolous on The Breakfast Club, and he responded in a way we'd expect from the LOX rapper:

Blame @bdotTM for that. Betha talk on The Breakfast Club. @cthagod pic.twitter.com/DxbcZviBVi

So, does Mase still got it? He channeled his Murda Mase character during a freestyle on DJ Cosmic Kev’s The Come Up Show in Philadelphia. He drops bars for nearly eight minutes, seemingly going off the top and snapping when the beat switches from Jay Z's "Do It Again" to Nicki Minaj's "Truffle Butter." But these could have been pre-writtens, too; you never really know what a freestyle is these days.

Still, Mase is fired up and it is great to see the OG out here rapping again. Could this mean a new album is on the way? Let’s hope so.
