Ever wonder how Drake's "Passionfruit" came to fruition? Well, Genius has come through with another episode of their "Deconstructed" series to show you just that.
The song, which was featured on Drake's playlist/album More Life, reached the No. 8 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. In the video, which you can watch above, London-based producer Nana Rogues details how the song came to be and shows, step by step, how it was created. It's fascinating insight into how a hit song is created.
"The vibe is weird," Rogues says of "Passionfruit" at the start of the video. "Every time I explain to people, people look at me funny. So basically, when I made the beat I was thinking of clouds. Like clouds in a jungle filled full of love. But not love from a girl. Love from life, and appreciation just a nice fluffy, bouncy."
More Life was released on March 18, 2017. The stacked project boasts features from Kanye West, Skepta, Quavo, Young Thug, Giggs, Travis Scott, 2 Chainz, Black Coffee, Jorja Smith, Sampha and PartyNextDoor.
In other Drake-related news, Pi'erre Bourne remarked that he would be working on Drake's new album. He made the comments while speaking to Billboard. "I'm going to finish working on my project," Bourne said. "Getting Carti's album going, working on Drake's album, me and 21 Savage got stuff blowing up. I want to branch off and do other things. I want to do other things than music, but I'm just excited for these opportunities. I know it's going to be a big year."
