Remember that Nas-inspired hoodie Lonzo Ball wore at Madison Square Garden this month? Of course you do. Well, that disrespectful design can now be yours for $85.
On Tuesday, Big Baller Brand rolled out a new ZO2 collection that includes pieces adorned with the controversial graphic: Lonzo’s face Photoshopped onto Nas’ 1996 album It Was Written. Customers can purchase the “Album Pullover Hoodie” in black and gray, as well as T-shirt versions in black, gray, and white.
The graphic, which replaces Nas’ signature with ZO2 branding, was introduced by Lonzo’s trainer/manager Darren Moore back in October. Moore rocked a T-shirt version shortly after Lonzo caught major heat for unfavorably comparing Nas to the new generation of rappers.
“Don’t nobody listen to Nas anymore […] Real hip-hop is Migos, Future,” the Los Angeles Lakers rookie said in an episode of Ball in the Family.
He doubled down on the bold statement during an interview on ESPNLA.
“So I'm like, nobody listens to Nas no more, which I think is true, because of my friends ain't nobody bumping Nas no more, no disrespect to him,” Lonzo explained. “He had his time, I just think it's a new time. And then the next question was, what is real hip-hop to you? And I said real hip-hop is Future and Migos, so that's how it all went down.”
Since then, Lonzo has endured a good amount of roasting from Nas fans and older hip-hop heads; however, it seems the athlete and his family are getting the last laugh. The man took a ridiculous controversy, generated a lot of publicity around it, and then turned it into a profit. You have to hand it to the Ball family.
Take a look the “Album” pieces, which range from $55 to $85, above and below. The rest of the ZO2 collection includes Lonzo-centric designs, like his signature tee, the emblem hoodie, and an assortment of dad hats. You can purchase the new range at zo2collection.com.
