Rick Ross is one of many rappers who have expressed outraged over Meek Mill’s recent prison sentence. The Maybach Music Group boss attended and spoke at this month’s #Rally4Meek protest, where activists, celebrities, and fans took to the streets of Philadelphia to call for Meek’s release.

A couple weeks later, Ross sat down with Tim Westwood TV to discuss the rapper’s incarceration and the flawed justice system.

"What I want to continue to express is for everybody who is at home in the same struggle, let’s use Meek Mill’s attention to shed light on a problem we that we know is bigger than Meek Mill," Ross explained at around the 6:15-minute mark. "We going to scream Meek’s name and make sure we fight this injustice that’s going on for young black males […] When I say Meek’s name, I’m really speaking for everybody that’s in the struggle, everybody that’s going through it, everybody that’s jammed up."

Ross, who is currently overseas for the Checkers vs. Wingstop Tour, said he also spoke to Meek’s mom, Kathy Williams, in Philadelphia.

"When I sat with Meek’s mom, she said some powerful things to me and all eyes around us, make sure we all stay positive," he said at the 8-minute mark. "And that’s what we’re going to do, we’re just going to stay positive, and just hold Meek down […] It’s most definitely an injustice."

On a lighter note, Ross also spoke about his upcoming 10th studio album Port of Miami 2. He told Westwood the project is set to drop in less than two months; however, he didn’t reveal any specific details about what fans can expect. Using a grocery store analogy, Ross said he was in the process of completing the album, but there’s a few more things he wants to put in the cart before he checks out.

"[It’s] a real epic moment for me, really digging in deep into these joints, these records, these collaborations. I’m just going all out," he said (1:44). "[…]Port of Miami 2 I think it’s really going to blow people away, because I went further, I really reached out to some people. Me and my big homies, we just shine bright as we usually do."
