While upwards of 20 popular and charting artists were all scheduled to make appearances, fisticuffs instead of music arguably highlighted day one of Rolling Loud Bay Area. Saturday night, video surfaced of XXXtentacion striking a Rolling Loud attendee multiple times after venturing off stage to perform “Look At Me” amid a crowd of attendees.

Multiple witness accounts have the currently unidentified attendee striking first before X is captured on a fan video retaliating by hitting the man repeatedly with his microphone. Nearby fans reacted with a mix of gasps and shouts egging X on, while others whipped out their phones.

XXXtentacion confirmed the altercation with a post from his Instagram “Stories” feed.

“I’m just letting everyone know ahead of time that I punched someone in their face today because I was assaulted while I was performing,” X said. “So before anybody sees the video and makes an assumption, I’m gonna beat everyone to it and let everyone know. Yo, I ended up punching someone because they punched me in my shit.”

Rolling Loud Bay Area was reportedly marred by violence a second time after Lil B claimed he was jumped by A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and his crew. The self-proclaimed “Based God” did not perform and appeared onstage to make a brief announcement telling fans of the cancellation.

As for XXXtentacion, this marks at least the third time one of his sets has involved him either being on the giving or receiving end of a beat down. In June, X was blindsided while on stage and savagely beaten during a performance in San Diego, California. Approximately 10 days later, video surfaced of XXXtentacion punching a fan while performing in the midst of fans offstage.

Rolling Loud Bay Area concludes today, and you can live stream the event via Revolt.
