The untimely passing of Jade Gavin Defoe, popularly known as the East London MC Esco, in '09 still remains a massive loss to the grime scene. We'll obviously never know the heights he could have reached or even what his debut album would've sounded like, but on new track "2 Cars", we get a brief taste of Esco once more alongside the top boys in the scene. Featuring a sample flip of an unmistakable Esco vocal, "2 Cars" puts Chronik, Skepta and D Double E together on the track as they all lay charismatic bars over Skitz Beatz's booming production. Esco would be proud.
