During a recent interview on the Breakfast Club, RZA addressed Azealia Banks’ highly publicized altercation with Russell Crowe last year. Azealia wasn’t pleased.
Shortly after the interview, the Harlem rapper went on Snapchat to blast the Wu-Tang member.
"RZA has to stop talking about me in the media. Until he is ready to apologize publicly he can go back to sucking Russell Crowes dick for invites to Hollywood parties," she wrote. "Nobody understands how badly I wanted to die the moment rza LIED and told the world I deserved to be spat. People laugh at me and said I lied. No one understands the amount of pain that came with and after that incident. Just fucking respect me and stop saying me [sic] name. @RZA I HOPE YOU DROP DEAD."
RZA, who invited Azealia to Crowe’s hotel party last year, doubled down on his claims that he saw the actor "spit at" the Harlem rapper; however, he refused to speak on Azealia’s assault allegations against Crowe.
"He spit at her. I saw that" RZA told Charlamagne (30:05), before providing clarification. "He didn’t spit on her. It was like, it almost got on me."
This isn’t different from what RZA said last year, shortly after the incident.
"Russell [did] spit at her. The spit didn’t hit her," he told TMZ. "[…] I wouldn’t say Russell got angry, to be honest. She was calling Russell all kinds of names […] She attacked, like physically. Verbal abuse is one thing; she physically attacked. He deflected it."
Azealia insists she was verbally and physically assaulted by Crowe, choked and called the N-word as he kicked her out of his party. A Los Angeles D.A. refused to press charges against Crowe, insisting his actions were justified based on eyewitness reports that identified Banks as the instigator.
