Dozens of fan theories about Tupac’ Shakur’s killer and the purposed location of the legendary rapper have been floated since Shakur died after sustaining gunshot wounds in a Las Vegas shooting in 1996. Some 20 years later, Oxygen seems to be strongly suggesting Tupac knew the identity of his killer with the documentary Snapped: Notorious.

The doc is slated to air September 10, 2017 and the network is drumming up publicity with a TMZ partnership showcasing an exclusive trailer.

“The trailer, obtained by TMZ, paints a vivid picture of Pac’s last breaths on his deathbed in a Las Vegas hospital,” TMZ reports. “His finger shot off and nodding that he knew who did this to him.”

While it’s true rapper, actor and activist Yolanda “Yo-Yo” Whitaker is pictured in the clip tearfully saying she asked ’Pac if he knew who shot him, the answer to that question is far from a “vivid picture” in the trailer TMZ posted. After Whitaker’s tearful account, the scene then cuts to further commentary from guests and a brief reenactment from what is presumably Shakur’s hospital room. There’s no nodding from Tupac to be found in the clip. Whitaker has gone on record has having previously dated Shakur and maintaining close ties with him.

All of the above takes place at about the 25-second mark in a trailer that runs just over one minute.

Tupac Shakur’s murder remains unsolved, with one anonymous LAPD source shrugging off the matter and telling Shakur’s murder was a simple matter of violence between rival street gangs.

“It was simple retaliation: you mess with one of ours, we will mess with one of yours,” the source told Jordan Runtagh in June of 2017. “If Orlando [Anderson] had never been jumped in the hotel they never would have killed Tupac that night.”

Feel free to draw your own conclusions and see if a basic cable channel can crack a cold case the LAPD hasn’t been able to solve for the better part of two decades, when Snapped: Notorious airs September 10 on Oxygen.
