Martin Shkreli's $2M Wu-Tang Album Might Not Be A Legit Wu-Tang Album

What’s up everyone, Frazier here for Complex. The L’s keep coming for pharma bro and certified piece of shit Martin Shkreli. Of course, he’s currently awaiting sentencing for a securities fraud conviction, on which he could face up to TWENTY years in prison.   And he’s not off to a great start either—his bail got revoked after he went on Facebook and offered his followers $5,000 to anyone who could, quote, “grab a hair” from Hillary Clinton on her book tour. Yeah, judges and prosecutors tend to frown on encouraging assault, buddy. Now, in addition to all of his legal woes, it turns out ya boy may have wasted $2 million. As we all know, one of Marty’s biggest trolls was his incessant bragging about dropping two ems to own the most expensive album ever, Wu-Tang Clan’s unreleased Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.   Since copping, he’s played snippets on social media, tried to hold a listening party at Webster Hall, and played even more snippets to celebrate Donald Trump’s victory in the 2016 presidential election. But, in a great twist of karma, it appears that the 7-figure album he owns may not actually be what it was purported as. Method Man and U-God’s respective managers, James Ellis and Domingo Neris talked to Bloomberg, and their comments cast the album in a whole new light. Domingo flat out says in the article, “It’s not an authorized Wu-Tang album.” And Ellis clarifies further: “When we did the verses, it was for a Cilvaringz album. How it became a Wu-Tang album from there? We have no knowledge of that." Killa Sin, a member of Wu-Tang's extended family, confirms sessions with producer Cilvaringz in New York, but he never got the impression that he was working on a Wu-Tang album.   "The way he presented it was it was going to be basically his album, and he wanted me to do some work for him.” The best part? Shkreli, who listed the album on eBay earlier this month, wrote in the description: “I have not carefully listened to the album.” Do tell. That’s the news for now but for the latest on Shkreli’s L’s, subscribe to Complex News on YouTube today. For Complex, I’m Frazier.
