Marilyn Manson has been referred to as a major influence for Lil Uzi Vert and a handful of other young rappers in recent years, but he's remained relatively quiet on the topic—until now.

Calling in to Beats 1 to speak with Zane Lowe about his new song "We Know Where You Fucking Live," the conversation veered to his relationship with Uzi.

"So, I’m at this hotel and I’m having dinner with Rick Ross, who said his dream is to work with me," Manson says of the first night he met Uzi. "He ghosted me a bit. But the same night, I hung out with Lil Uzi after we had talked. And we talked a lot. He ghosted me also. I don’t know if by the time this airs, he will have still ghosted me."

Referencing Lowe's recent interview with Uzi in which the rapper called him "annoying," Manson explained that he didn't like answering video FaceTime calls.

"He said he wanted me to help him find older women," Manson continued. "I said everyone is older than you because you just turned 22."

Then, he took time to speak on Uzi's music, specifically, explaining, "I like his new record way better than the first one. The first one, I saw the potential in him because he had this attitude that reminded me of me when I was his age. I don’t want to sound aged by saying that, it just sounded like what needed to happen. But it wasn’t fully formed."

"There’s a lot of bands that do things and they try to seem authentic, but you can’t fake real," he continued. "You can’t. I mean, I can fake it pretty good, but I don’t have to. But I think that’s where my relationship with a lot of these hip-hop artists is. Because they’re hardcore and they have a different lifestyle that’s unlike mine. I’m white from the midwest. They’re from a different lifestyle. But people know real when they see it. And real scars show it. Mental, physical, musical, all of them."

You can hear the full conversation below. The discussion about Uzi begins at the 4:45 mark.
