Half the reason to tune into an award show is in the hope of seeing somebody pull a crazy stunt. A singer doesn't necessarily have to pull a Janet Jackson and #FreeTheNipple in the middle of the Super Bowl, but doing something off the wall is always welcome.

Miley Cyrus had her, "What the hell is she doing?" moment at the 2013 VMAs, when she took the stage in a flesh-colored bikini, almost literally twerked her ass off, and had a little too much fun with a foam finger. It changed the public's view of her permanently, and when fans found out she'd be performing at the 2017 VMAs, they were understandably interested in what she might have in store.

As it turns out, apparently not much, or at least not as much as she did when she gyrated all overRobin Thicke in 2013. Hours before the award show was set to start, Cyrus shared a hilarious photoshop on her social media feeds, with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, watching as she grinded all over Thicke. But she says that's not happening this time:

Sorry Dad.... I'll be good tonight I promise ... @vmas pic.twitter.com/QZWOfSfNg5

Although this will be a disappointment for those of you tuning in just to see a little skin, her acknowledgement of the ridiculous 2013 performance sent followers into hysterics, and they saluted her for not shying away from the moment.

God I love you.
I'm crying 😂😂😭
oooooooooooooomg
QUEEN OF VMAS

A lot has changed in the last four years, and Cyrus doesn't really have to resort to shock and awe to get people to think of her as an "adult" artist now. She is well past her Hannah Montana days at this point, so she can just let her work speak for itself, rather than do something ridiculous to prove she's past that part of her life.

But since we're all going to be tuning in, Miley, please feel free to be as crazy as you want to be.
