Lil Yachty surprised fans Tuesday night by dropping his own version of Tay-K’s viral hit “The Race.”

The track features the Teenage Emotions artist freestyling over the S. Diesel beat, while calling for Tay-K’s freedom.

“It's Young Boat, put a nigga in they place/Rich as fuck out the window, free Tay-K,” he raps. “First show I did I got less than 10K/Saw Tay-K, now he who he is today.”

Tay-K 47 is a 17-year-old rapper who gained prominence with his Soundcloud-released track “The Race.” The Texas-based artist wrote the song shortly after he was charged in connection to the 2016 robbery and murder of Ethan Walker. In the song, Tay-K raps about killing someone, getting busted for it, and his intention to run from the law—which he did after cutting off his ankle monitor and reportedly fleeing to San Antonio.

Tay-K’s story catapulted “The Race” toward the top of the Soundcloud chart, peaking at No. 2.

Following his arrest in June of this year, several artists have put their own spin on “The Race,” including XXXTentacion, Lil Bibby, and now, Lil Boat.
