It's safe to say Kodak Black's Project Baby 2 had a very solid first week, as it debuted at No. 2 on the new Billboard 200 chart with nearly 50,000 album equivalent units (8,000 of which came via traditional album sales) being moved.

For the sake of comparison, Kodak's 2017 studio album Painting Pictures moved 71,000 units (15,000 via traditional album sales) during its debut this past March. In semi-related news (at least when it comes to rap), Dave East made his first top 10 appearance on the Billboard 200 chart with Paranoia: A Love Story hitting No. 9 with slightly less than 26,000 units being moved.

Kodak's spot as the runner-up comes about two-and-a-half months after his release from Florida's Broward County Jail, where he was being held for violating his house arrest. And though he's still on house arrest, he was spotted at the VMAs on Sunday night where he lost in the Best New Artist category, though that didn't seem to bother him:

Guess win or lose, attending the VMAs beats sitting at homein a jail cell. At least marginally, anyway.
