Lupita Nyong'o is the focus of the latest commercial/ad/teaser (?) for Jay Z's forthcoming 4:44 project. The clip, entitled "MaNyfaCedGod," can be viewed above.
The latest look at the mysterious visual element of Tidal and Sprint's 4:44 presentation is a 30-second scene featuring a clearly distraught Nyong'o crying and staring into the camera, shot using the same unique style of the "Kill Jay Z" clip, released just one day earlier:
Shortly after the latest 4:44 teaser dropped, Fear of God founder Jerry Lorenzo shared this:
Though Jay Z's 4:44 release is now just days away, we still don’t know very much about it. First, hype-inducing ads and billboards for 4:44—sans Jay Z's name—started popping up everywhere. Later, a new round of billboards and ads appeared confirming Jay Z's involvement. A trailer, featuring Nyong'o and Mahershala Ali, eventually premiered during the NBA Finals.
A new song, "Adnis," has also been teased:
Roc Nation's own Vic Mensa expertly dodged attempts at getting the 4:44 scoop in a recent interview. Speaking with Real 92.3 earlier this month, Mensa said only that he "might have heard" some new Jay and that the use of the number 4 is "important." Mensa was also asked about new Jay music during his recent appearance on Everyday Struggle:
Jay Z's 4:44 is out Friday. The release will be followed by a run of festival dates in the fall, including Made in America and Austin City Limits. There are also rumors that Jay will embark on a massive tour later this year.
