It's been just over a year since Gov dropped his debut project Nights which we premiered here on Complex, and in that time the U.K.-to-Toronto transplant has been very busy. Not only has he recorded and released a new EP, The Roses, but also new short film which is scored with instrumentals from the project, and both are very much worth your time.

Settling into his adopted home has played a huge part in Gov's new artistic ventures. "My first EP Nights was inspired by both my hometown of London and Toronto," explains Gov, whereas "The Roses, both the movie and EP were both inspired heavily by the city of Toronto." The film itself features many of Toronto's most famous locations and landmarks, including the skyline, Yonge-Dundas Square and Kensington Market.

The film was a labor of love for Gov, who also co-wrote the screenplay with his close friend and director Anil. But for this artist, it was only right to pay tribute to the city that he feels has given him so much: "Toronto embraced me with open arms and continues to show me so much love in all ways, it's only right I did this movie." It was also a chance for Gov to incorporate his love of movies and short films into his own art; the result is certainly impressive, and gives us a different experience with the music that we might not get through just a standard listen.
