Lining himself up as the next in Circular Jaw's line of tough, rolling low-end weapons is Birmingham-based producer Yilan.

Yilan's self-titled debut sees him combine caustic industrial sounds with tight, heart-racing rhythms that are both atmospheric and club-ready. And while the rest of the six-track EP ranges from sparse, experimental productions to heavier, more intense club production, "Defibrillator" marries the two neatly.

The grimey influence of his hometown also feeds into the track via the glowering bass line, and surprisingly bouncy stabs. Harsh and full of menacing bass, Yilan's self-titled set (out on May 12) is a strong opening gambit and more than worthy of its home at Circular Jaw. Listen to "Defibrillator" down below.
