It's not uncommon for young people to dabble in more than one creative endeavor these days and Toronto's Bianca is the perfect example of a young talent who is really running with the idea of being a mutli-hyphenate. She's already a noted photographer in city in the fields of both fashion and music, having photographed events ranging from the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour at the Air Canada Centre to Wayhome Festival. And now she's stepping out from behind the camera and in front of the lens with her own music career. After dropping her first single "Missed Calls" a few months back, she's back with another dope track called "Mama Said."
Bianca lays her bluesy-soulful vocals over moody production from Marji, offering a modern interpolation of The Shirelles classic "Mama Said" with her reminder that "there'll be days like this." She shares with listeners an intimate conversation between mother and child about relationships: "She said baby give him space / mama I'm afraid he'll go / baby let him know." She's just 21 years old but Bianca definitely sings with an old-soul maturity beyond her years.
