Canadian Music Week returns this spring and the mutli-venue music festival just released another round of artist set to perform as part of this year's festivities. Odd Future alumni Earl Sweatshirt, Montreal's indie darlings Wolf Parade, synth pop singer Allie X and pop punk stalwarts Good Charlotte will join previously announced artists like Melissa Etheridge, Charlotte Day Wilson and Toro Y Moi's side project Chaz Bundick Meets Mattson 2.
CMW will mark the first time that Earl Sweatshirt performs in the city in the almost two years since his August 2015 show at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. Another highly anticipated performer in the hip-hop category is Boston's A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, whose debut EP, TBA, peaked at number 63 on the US Billboard 200 chart and also appeared on Rolling Stone's "40 Best Rap Albums of 2016" list.
The lineup also includes a solid showing from Canadian artists, natually with Frigs, Chastity, Beliefs, Casper Skulls, Vallens, Twist, Pony, The Beaches and rising rapper TOBi all set to perform.
This year Pigeons and Planes will also be hosting a showcase which also doubles as the only Canadian stop on the No Ceilings Tour featuring Boogie, Kaiydo, Kemba, and Michael Christmas. That event takes place on April 22 at the Velvet Underground, with tickets on sale this Friday February 24.
All in all, it should be another great six days of discovery for music fans who are interested in catching some rising artists on the cusp of hitting it big. The multi-venue nature of CMW also offers another unique experience to festival-goers who may not normally get the opportunity to see live entertainment over consecutive days and in a variety of spaces.
