Fabolous and Jadakiss Serve Up Friday the 13th Horror With Their ‘Freddy Vs. Jason’ Trailer and ‘Rapture’

Jadakiss and Fabolous use Friday the 13th to drop a new single and plug their upcoming 'Freddy Vs. Jason' collab project.

Native New Yorkers and rap mainstays Fabolous and Jadakiss have joined forces, and their newest collaboration finds the pair evoking memories of two horror film staples for their project. Fab and ‘Kiss released the trailer for Freddy Vs. Jason and its lead single “Rapture” within hours of each other on Friday, Feb. 13.

Tory Lanez assists on “Rapture,” as Jadakiss and Fabolous trade veteran bars over a sample of Anita Baker’s “Caught up in the Rapture.” Having respectively dropped their full-length, major label debuts in 1998 and 2001, Jadakiss and Fabolous cover everything from slap-boxing to moving work across state borders.

“Caught up in the rapture of love/Where they shoot it out, slap box, scrap with the thugs/Went to all different cities on the map with the drugs/Instead of re-ing up/We just came back with the plugs,” Jadakiss spits, on the nearly four-minute track that finds him and Fab offering one verse apiece.

A viral trailer for Freddy Vs. Jason also hit the web as an accompanying element to the project. The clip uses elements of The Blair Witch Project, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street in addition to other horror movie tropes.

There’s currently no release date for Freddy Vs. Jason, but the project adds to what has been a busy few months for both Fab and Jada. Fabolous began 2017 by dropping Trappy New Years with Trey Songz, and The Lox released Filthy America…It’s Beautiful via Tidal in December.
