Solange Knowles made her Saturday Night Live debut with performances from her chart-topping album A Seat At The Table. The singer was joined by UK singer/songwriter and producer Sampha as well as her backing band for “Don’t Touch My Hair,” and she also gave a solo performance of the Raphael Saadiq co-produced “Cranes In The Sky.” While the album tracks highlight themes of empowerment and intersectionality, they were sandwiched between SNL skits about the upcoming Presidential election. The show’s “cold open” segment was once again a showcase for a Trump versus Clinton parody.

Apparently nerves and “imperfections” factored in, as Solange tweeted the following after her performance:

The performances also incorporated the signature choreography from both of the aforementioned videos. In September, Solange’s A Seat At The Table became her first number one placement on Billboard magazine’s Top 200 Albums Chart. The strong debut made Solange and Beyoncé one of the few pairs of siblings to both score top-charting albums, as Beyoncé’s Lemonade also debuted at the top spot back in April.

After the performance, Solange was joined by Beyoncé and her mother Tina Lawson, who also appears on A Seat At The Table.
