MOTSA, otherwise known as half Austrian/half Russian Valerio Dittrich, has just dropped the official video for his latest single, "Petrichor", directed by Martina Trepczyk and Nicola von Leffern aka APESFRAMED. Inspired by the UK bass scene, which he immersed himself in whilst living in Scotland, MOTSA's sound features ominous piano lines, techno-leaning synths, full-bodied bass lines and, in this case, the feather-light vocals of Sophie Lindinger (one half of acclaimed Austrian experimental pop outfit Leyya). Structurally, "Petrichor" leans more towards conventional songwriting, though MOTSA is definitely an accomplished producer, what with its wide selection of organic tones and instruments. What's more is he's also been recently tapped up to remix the likes of SG Lewis, The 2 Bears and Submotion Orchestra—another indicator of his sonic temperament.
"Petrichor" is taken from MOTSA's new EP, Petricolour, which will be released digitally and on vinyl Nov. 4 via his own imprint, also called Petricolour.
