Born and raised in St-Henri, a neighbourhood on the southwest side of Montréal, 21-year-old KGoon is on a mission. After getting a major shout-out from N.O.R.E. at a local show this past year, the gritty rapper is now turning heads with rousing new material. Today on Complex CA, KGoon is debuting the dark visuals for "Pray 4 Em". The video is directed by Fatty Soprano, and you can watch it in all of its glory below, via YouTube.
The video for "Pray 4 Em" sees the Montréaler weave through dimly lit halls and urban vistas. As for the song itself, KGoon says that it's all about self-motivation. "Pray for those who do not believe in your vision, stay committed to your grind and they will see". It's a message that comes from a rapper building upon his own recent success. When asked about his breakout song, "100 Bandz", the artist remains humble. "The love I've been getting from my city is truly a blessing, 100 Bandz has become the people's anthem in Montréal. I'm currently crafting my debut project which is beyond anything you'd expect from me".
KGoon is using his buzz to strengthen his place in his city's music scene. "I'm inspired by the adversity I'm faced with as well as the unconditional love from my supporters. Through it all, God got my back. I'mma keep praying...for myself, my family and the haters." In order to achieve his goals, the rapper is embracing the newfound support. "They’re telling me the city is on my back right now. I wanna put Montréal on the map and make you remember my name. I'm dedicated, just a young dude from the bottom chasing the dream. How can you hate on that?"
Along with the new visuals, KGoon is dropping the audio link to "Pray 4 Em". The cover art was crafted by Amber Park, who recently gifted PARTYNEXTDOOR with a trippy illustration for "Don't Do It For You No More".
