Vince Staples brought his multifaceted Prima Donna experience to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday and enlisted the legendary Roots crew for a late-night take on "Smile." The introspective song, a standout from the 7-track Prima Donna EP that dropped in late August, was produced by John Hill and DJ Dahi (Big Sean, Drake) and sees Staples addressing the difficulties of success head-on.

In addition to shredding the Prima Donna cut, Staples also joined the Tonight Show team for their popular digital segment "My First Concert." According to Staples, a Diana Ross show at the Hollywood Bowl takes the honors of being his first concert experience. "I went with my mother and my grandmother because it was Mother's Day," Staples said. "There were drunk elderly people and there were food options. I had never been to a concert with food options and dining tray tables, which makes it the best concert I've been to in my life. And she did all the hits."

When asked how it would feel to know that one of his shows might be someone's first concert experience, dude kept it commendably 💯. "I feel like children should not be allowed admission to my concerts at certain times, because sometimes I get very vulgar and very dangerous," he said. "But send your kids and bring me your money."

Speaking with Zane Lowe surrounding Prima Donna's release, Staples said the hardest part about putting the EP together was nailing down the stories he wanted to convey. "I worked hard on it," Staples said. "On just trying to have stories to tell people. Honesty is easy. The stories—that's the hard part." You can stream Prima Donna in full here.
