The SMIRNOFF™ Sound Collective was created with the goal of inspiring a more diverse and inclusive world through electronic music. Its short- and long-form content pieces aim to highlight stories told through music, while uniting different cultures of artists and fans in the process.

To celebrate Mexican Independence Day, the SMIRNOFF™ Sound Collective recently hosted the world premiere of its new 8-minute documentary Tribes: NAAFI. The doc focuses on the Mexico City music group NAAFI, demonstrating how it affects change within the global music scene by bringing other music collectives across Latin America together, and fighting stereotypes that exist within Latin American culture.

The screening took place at the Mixmag x SMIRNOFF™ Sound Collective Lab in Brooklyn, and was followed by a gathering where audience members got to meet and speak with the co-founders of NAAFI. Guests were treated to live DJ sets and a special, Latin American-inspired SMIRNOFF vodka cocktail, the SMIRNOFF Paloma. Of course, the iconic SMIRNOFF Moscow Mule also made countless appearances. The evening was a great example of how NAAFI’s members are using their well-established platform to create and further develop music, despite the challenges they face as Latin American artists.

You can watch Tribes: NAAFI above, and check out SMIRNOFF™ Sound Collective's other dope projects on their YouTubeTwitter, and Instagram pages.
