In the wake of the devastating and historic flooding taking place in Louisiana this week, many celebrities are using their wealth and star power to help. A number of celebs have made the decision to donate funds to the flood relief efforts and encouraged their fans to do the same.

Most notably, the AP is reporting that Taylor Swift is donating $1,000,000 of her own money to aid in the relief efforts. She released a brief statement on Tuesday explaining why she decided to donate so much money. "We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home," she said. "The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking. I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time."

Lady Gaga also noted that her family would be contributing to help those affected by the flooding.

Additionally, Louisiana native Ellen DeGeneres encouraged people to donate on her Twitter account.

And other Louisiana celebrities sent messages of solidarity with their home state.

The flooding in the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana has claimed 11 lives so far, according to ABC News, and damaged or destroyed more than 40,000 homes.
