Noted Frank Ocean collaborator Malay dropped by Reddit on Monday for an AMA to chat with fans about his past and current projects. The conversation went down on a Frank Ocean dedicated page, but one major stipulation of the event was that Malay would not answer any questions about "the production, creation, or anything involving Frank’s new album."
Of course, questions about Ocean's long-awaited, long-delayed new album, Boys Don't Cry, still came up. One user vented his frustration with the unreliable release process and asked Malay for his understanding. "First of all we all massively appreciate and love you guys, Frank has told me this himself many times," Malay responded. "To be fair tho, art cannot be rushed. It's about making sure the perfect aesthetics for the situation has been reached, to do that, takes constant tweaking, trial and error.. That goes for any creative [situation.]"
Unfortunately, that was the most Malay would open up about Ocean's new project. He did answer questions regarding his work on Ocean's Channel Orange and how the making of that project felt like "two friends hanging out," but was also his most challenging and rewarding project to date. Interestingly enough, the album just re-entered the Billboard 200 after a three -year absence. Currently, he is working with Sam Smith, Kai, ThirdStory, and on "quite a few things."
Throughout the AMA, Malay continually referenced something called the "booty club," telling fans that "the answer is at the booty club" and that we should all "stay tuned for tickets and rules" while dropping a strong amount of the tea cup emoji. One fan quickly pointed out that Malay snapped a picture of him working on something called "Booty Club" in the past.

One user couldn't resist the opportunity to speculate that "Booty Club" is somehow related Frank's Boys Don't Cry where "Booty = BD Club = C Booty Club = BDC = Boys Don't Cry?" Meanwhile, another user reminded us of the time the video of a tea cup moving by itself was posted to Frank's website. Just to make sure we were all paying attention, Malay signed off by saying, "See y'all at the booty club 🍵🍵🍵."
