It's no secret that Save Money rappers Vic Mensa and Joey Purp are tight, but their recent freestyle on Sway in the Morning takes their collaborative spirit to a whole new level. It starts off pretty normal, with Vic spitting some bars off the top. He's demonstrated his freestyling abilities over and over recently, so it wasn't too surprising to see him doing well. Once Joey comes in, however, things really get interesting. He fires off a nice verse before Vic jumps back in for more. Purp comes in again, and soon they're going line for line with each other. The skills on display are undeniably impressive, especially when they manage to coordinate a dueted ending on the fly.
It's been a big year for both rappers. Purp dropped his mixtape iiiDrops to much critical acclaim, proving himself to be just the latest rapper from Save Money to be making a statement for himself. Vic also garnered some praise for his EP There's Alot Going On. He's gearing up for the release of his debut album, which he recently revealed will no longer be titled Traffic. He's been outspoken on a number of pressing political issues, including the Black Lives Matter movement, the Flint water crisis, and even the gay rights movement. He surprised many with the release of "Free Love" alongside out rapper Le1f and Lil B, becoming one of the few rappers to openly discuss the issue.
