At the end of every month, we round up the songs and music videos by Canadians that were in heavy rotation. Throw some headphones on, kick back, and catch up on the gems you might have missed this month.

EBHONI, “GM ATL”

EBHONI is one of Toronto’s most exciting new voices. At the very beginning of the month, the R&B vocalist gave us the progressive and equally trippy, “GM ATL”. The song is highlighted by some truly haunting echoes and glitzy drum patterns. Florida maestro, Uncle Flex, gets the production credit on this ambient banger.

Leila Dey & Hakeem Roze, “Vibe”

Dey and Roze connect for the aptly named, “Vibe”. The two Toronto singers float on top of a rolling, futuristic beat. "Vibe" sounds like it was pulled from the VIP section of some intergalactic club. This is the first track posted to Leila’s Soundcloud account in over nine months, and hearing the song now, it was really worth the wait.

DBLCRSS & Leo, “Young Moses”

“Young Moses” is the nasty debut single from producer, DBLCRSS. The stellar instrumental is bolstered by horn shots and some fiery bars by Hamilton rapper, Leo. A new project from DBLCRSS is lined up next month. We’ll definitely be listening to what else these two have in store.

Charlotte Cardin, “Talk Talk”

Montreal’s Charlotte Cardin had a terrific month. Two weeks ago, the French Canadian artist finally debuted her EP, Big Boy. The project landed on all major streaming services. A few cuts had been circulating on Youtube for a while now, but getting them in lossless audio is a damn treat. Aside from the title track, “Talk Talk” is the strongest offering, and it gives the uninitiated a good sense of what she’s all about.

Luu Breeze, “Brown Paper Bag”

Last month, Luu Breeze returned to the scene with Something In The Shade. The full-length tape featured the standout, “Brown Paper Bag”, a gritty ode to flexing and liquor sipping. After letting the dust settle a bit, we were gifted with some excellent visuals on July 5th. Highlights of the new music video include Luu in whipping in a Benz, and hanging out around Church and Dundas. A note to the reader, that corner is home to an awesome taco spot.

PARTYNEXTDOOR, “Not Nice”
