As a man who’s been in the acting game since childhood, Drake has developed a natural comedic ability that’s been praised by fans and critics alike. On Tuesday night, he demonstrated his skills once again as a guest star on the Maya & Marty variety show when he willfully sat across from Martin Short's notorious alter ego, Jiminy Glick, for an onslaught of uncomfortable questions.
During the segment, Jiminy confronted Drake about his acting and his government name. Jiminy also brought up Drake's religion. "You’re a Jewish rapper. Isn’t that wonderful. Do you miss the hood? And when I say hood, I mean your foreskin," Jiminy said before landing one last insult. "You’re a Canadian former child star. So literally we’re talking about zero street cred."
The series, which debuted May 31 on NBC, is hosted by Saturday Night Live alumni Maya Rudolph and Martin Short and features cast members Kenan Thompson and Mikey Day.
The show’s mix of music and sketch comedy seemed to be pretty familiar to Drake, as he’s hosted SNL on multiple occasions. Just last month, the rapper pulled off double duty as both the host and musical guest on an episode of SNL. Of course, that involved a little more of Drake talking, whereas his Maya & Marty segment was a lot of Drake being on the receiving end of Jiminy's crazy. Still, there's something hilarious about watching someone as sweet as Drake interact with Short's obnoxious Jiminy Glick character. Watch the full interview above.
