As the music world continues to mourn the loss of Phife Dawg, his team just released the video for his new single, "Nutshell," which was originally premiered by Ebro on Apple Music earlier. The single and video comes on the same day of Phife's tribute event, which took place at the Apollo Theater earlier tonight. In the new video, which features production from the late J Dilla, Phife shows off his love of sports, as he spits the mean lyrics to the track while rocking some classic gear.
While the clip isn't a full on tribute video, it does include some awesome words from Phife's peers on his legacy and what he meant to them. At the conclusion of the video, which you can watch above, there is a lengthy list of thank you notes that includes mention of Q-Tip, Pete Rock, Rakim, Redman, and more. Though Phife is gone, this video further proves that his legacy will never be forgotten and it will now only be brought to another level in his death. Half of the proceeds from the single, which you can purchase on iTunes here, will go to the American Diabetes Association and National Kidney Foundation.
