Tyler, the Creatorwent on Twitter to share some news about a reoccurring theme in his music. According to a now deleted tweet, Tyler says he wasn’t actually sad about his estranged father on Wolf. In reality, he moved on after the release of Bastard.

True fans of Tyler know that some of his lyrics are directed at his father who abandoned him at a young age. There are several songs throughout his discography that sprinkle in a line or two about his father. In particular, “Bastard” has a good amount including this one that many of us remember: “Fuck a deal, I just want my father's email / So I can tell him how much I fucking hate him in detail.”

Here are a few other instances:

“Nightmare”

“My father called me to tell me he loved me / I'd have a better chance of getting Taylor Swift to fuck me”

"Colossus”

"My life is just like yours, no father / My momma must have forgot to stop with a popped condom”

“Answer”

“The fuck is an Okonma? I'm changing my shit to Haley”

If Tyler sticks to his original tweet, then this means him mentioning his father had more to do with continuing the narrative of the character Sam in his albums. Noisey put together a comprehensive breakdown of his trilogy and Sam's origin story, which you could read here.

In other Tyler news, he says that on his next project he’ll be going pop. However, reading into his tweets more closely, he might have been joking (or not).

Honestly, it's hard to gauge Tyler's seriousness online, so this could very well be the same scenario for his tweet about his father. Revisit more of his lyrics from Wolf in our round-up from a few years back.
