Halsey is opening up about her very public collaboration with Justin Bieber on the Today Show back in November when they performed "The Feeling" off Purpose. In her new cover story with Billboard, the singer reveals the steamy duet was incredibly nerve-racking. “It was a fucking train wreck,” she says. “You don’t know fear until it’s 7 a.m. and freezing cold on live television and you’re not sure if Justin Bieber is going to kiss you or not.”

The outspoken singer also shares her thoughts on another very public musician and artist: Kanye West. “I love Kanye West,” she says. “I think he’s a visionary. He’s one of those people for whom I separate his personality from his artistry." However, she definitely feels a compassion for 'Ye and the way he is often dissected and hounded by the media. "Being a musician is tough. If you were asked to talk about yourself for six hours a day you would probably go crazy, too! Which is why I give Kanye the benefit of the doubt. Being him must be exhausting.”

The singer also uses the interview to shine a light on her deep passion and respect for Presidential nominee Bernie Sanders. Halsey has been vocal about her support for the candidate across her social media accounts and her Twitter handle currently reads “Bernie Sanders Fan." Halsey says she is now in the one percent as far as income goes due to her career, but she has no problem paying money to ensure equal rights for all human beings. "While I know people in the industry who want to vote for someone who will protect them financially, I’m looking for a person who will make sure my 17-year-old brother doesn’t get killed someday because he’s half-black. If that means I lose 50 percent of my income every year, so be it."
