It's been over a year since up-and-coming artist DonChristian has released any new music, but the drought ends today with the debut of his new single, "Chop," and the accompanying video to go with it. The song was crafted by DonChristian and South African producer Applesawc, who he met via SoundCloud a few years back and developed a close relationship with despite the distance between them. Applesawc tragically passed away in August, and DonChristian has since dedicated this new song and video in his memory. "The last thing he wrote to me was, 'I just want to put this song out, man'," DonChristian told Complex over email.

In the inspiring video, which was directed by Sam Jones and produced by Super Deluxe, pays tribute to the city of Philadelphia and pairs DonChristian with members from the historical dance company, Philadanco. The energy and emotion of the song and video is just so free and open that it exemplifies what DonChristian is all about as an artist. With his last project, Renzo Piano, having dropped all the way back in 2014, DonChristian is looking to release his long-awaited debut album this year, and "Chop" serves as the perfect prelude to what he has in store.
