Red Bull Music Academy Coming To Montreal In 2016

Alumni include Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke, Katy B, and more.

Red Bull Music Academy has just announced that this year’s intensive month-long workshop and festival will take place in Montreal, marking its first return to Canada since 2007’s festivities in Toronto.

In Autumn of 2016, 40 rising musicians will attend lectures, studio sessions, and performances by major musicians and industry professionals, the likes of which have previously included Brian Eno, Nile Rodgers, Erykah Badu, M.I.A., James Murphy. The prestigious academy helped launch the careers of alumni such as Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke, Katy B, and many more.

“The city of Montreal has been at the epicenter of Canadian artistic experimentalism for decades,” the press release reads. “A sprawling multitude of festivals, exhibitions, community gatherings and distinct neighbourhoods have long cultivated and celebrated the city's thirst for expression and experimentation—and the Red Bull Music Academy team is proud to add its own curatorial voice to the choir.”

If you’re an aspiring producer, it’s time to put the finishing touches on that Ableton heater you’ve got in the chamber. Applications for Red Bull Music Academy Montreal are being accepted between January 18th and March 7th. Visit the RBMA website for more information.
