It’s hard to place Brooklyn’s Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire. He’s a practitioner of a type grimy street rap that hasn’t been prevalent since Giuliani was in office, yet he doesn’t rest on the laurels of a past generation of MCs. Since he dropped his sophomore mixtape, Lost in Translation, back in 2011, he’s been working to carve a lane that allows him to be his irreverent, sexually explicit, half dazed, but stringently lyrical self.

His latest EP, Live Forever, carries that along. The seven-track self-released project showcases his innate ability to pick out quirky beats that work wonderfully as backdrops to all the strange and outlandish stories eXquire wishes to share. The EP’s closing song, “Gold Mouth Piranha AKA Some Wise Quote My Pops Said,” will give you a good idea of what the rest of the project has in store. Produced by ACTION BASTARD, “GMP” has eXquire employing a double-time flow to empty his mind as he goes over past record deals, people’s reservations about him, and his internal frustrations.

That's why the video for the track, which we're premiering today, features only Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire doing what he does best. Directed by FRMNDS, the video is as tripped-out as the beat. Peep the video above. If you're feeling it, cop the EP on iTunes or stream it on Spotify.
