You can learn about someone from their year-end lists. You already know our opinion, so we thought we’d ask some of our favourite homegrown artists what their favourite songs and albums of 2015 are. No surprise, there’s some solid support here for Torontonian father figure Drake, and lots of acknowledgement for 2015’s runaway critical success, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly. Obvious favourites aside, the coolest takeaway from these lists is that the Canadian music scene is, as it has from day one, supporting itself—there’s plenty of love for Jazz Cartier, Daniel Caesar, High Klassified, Da-P, Allan Rayman...the list goes on. Two artists even included themselves on their own rankings. Bold move, but you can't hate on self love.
