A representative for country singer Jason Aldean has reportedly confirmed that the star wore blackface as part of a Lil Wayne Halloween costume last month, according to Billboard. The news follows the spread of a since-confirmed photo of Aldean in the offensive get-up earlier this month. The picture, available above and originally posted by Nashville Gab, finds Aldean in blackface, fake dreadlocks, gold jewelry, and more.
The singer's publicist apparently confirmed the photo but declined to comment further, writing simply that Aldean "dressed as rapper Lil Wayne for Halloween." Aldean is notably one of the genres most commercially successful musicians and was named the top digital selling male country artist of 2014 by the RIAA.
For his part, Aldean doesn't seem to have acknowledged publicly or expressed any remorse over the offensive costume. (His most recent Tweet advises fans to check out the new Coldplay song.)
