Hello, new Adele. After months of anticipation, breaking records, interviews and careful promotion, Adele's new album 25 is finally here. The singer's chart-topping first single from the album was only a taste of the sweeping melodies and bone-chilling vocal power the 27-year-old singer was waiting to unleash on her third studio album. Described by Adele as a "make-up record," the album boasts collaborations with the likes of Ryan Tedder, Sia, Bruno Mars, Tobias Jesso Jr., Max Martin, Danger Mouse and more. "I'm making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did," she wrote in a personal note.
Current sale projections for the album predict 2.5 million units will sell in the first week according to Billboard. If that number is reached, 25 will become the largest-selling album in a week in Nielsen SoundScan history since it first began monitoring sales in 1991. That number would beat out current record holder *NSYNC who sold 2.145 million units of No Strings Attached back in 2000. Earlier today, the Times noted that 25 will reportedly not be on streaming services right away, which would only increase sales. Only time will tell what numbers 25 will truly deliver.
