50 Cent Has Pushed 'The Kanan Tape' Back to December

Fif promises another tape after its release.

50 Cent promised The Kanan Tape on Thanksgiving, but many fans wondered where the tape was when it didn't drop. In a new interview with DJ Whoo Kid, Fif gave an update on The Kanan Tape, which is now slated to be released next month.

"It’s gonna come first week of December,” he says. “I promised that because I just had a few things to get right with the tape. Like, everything is done. It’s just sitting there.”

Fif was inspired by Chris Brown’s approach to Royalty, where the R&B singer is making conceptual visuals for each song. Similar to what he did with the videos for Animal Ambition, 50 plans on releasing a short film along with the The Kanan Tape directed by Eif Rivera.

“I always talk about how important it is to find the right visuals connected to the music,” he says of the delay. “I decided to shoot everything before I let everything go.”

The Kanan Tape will feature eight tracks—including “Body Bags” and “Too Rich”—and production from Sonny Digital, London on da Track, and Illmind. The tape is loosely based on the life of Power’s Kanan, who is 50’s character on the show. After The Kanan Tape, Fif wants to put out a “reloaded” version featuring more songs.

You can listen to the rest of the interview where he talks about Dr. Dre, rap beef, and the third season of Power.
