Kanye West may have been on to something when he told everyone to “listen to the kids, bro” during his speech at this year’s VMAs because his friends Jay Z and Beyoncéare doing just that.

In recent memory, Bey-Z have shown us that they aren’t “dinosaurs,” as DJ Khaledgracefully uses to describe out-of-touch influencers. They know what’s going on in pop culture and music. After all, this is the same couple who co-signed Bobby Shmurda,  D.R.A.M. and Vic Mensa. Their power to move the needle hasn’t lost its steam.

On Friday night, Chance performed at Terminal 5 in New York City for his Family Matters Tour. He brought out Ja Rule, who performed “New York” and “Livin’ It Up.” This was pretty random and amazing at the same time, but Ja loved it.

I learned a valuable lesson last night... LISTEN TO THE KIDS BRUH!!! Lol
Shout out to @chancetherapper and the whole Sox last night was dope your movement is dope!!! #ImAFan 💯

Afterwards, Chance got more love backstage. Here’s a photo of him alongside Jay, Bey, and Usher. (Love the bunny ears, B.) He wrote in the caption, “#familymatterstour backstage with Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Usher. Yall should really catch a show #Angels #thirdmixtape.”

Chance talked about his idea of a third mixtape with Ebro yesterday, so don’t get too excited just yet. The shortened version is that he wants to create a sound that’s on the level of a Jay Z, Beyonce or Usher. When we talk about Chance’s next project, it won’t be so much in the same lineage as his previous work. It’ll actually be something that fully defines who is he and what he does in music. In other words, stay tuned for the #thirdmixtape.
