The original version of Daymé Arocena's "Don't Unplug My Body" (out Aug. 21 via Gilles Peterson's Brownswood label) was a soulful insight into vibrant Cuban sonic textures. Arocena's powerful voice was of course the centrepiece and DJ, producer and label owner Atjazz taps directly into this with his technicolour "Astro Dub" remix. Chopping up her vocals to create a whole new melody, he transforms "Don't Unplug My Body" into a colourful, uplifting house number with a soulful, soaring refrain that'll be stuck in your head for weeks to come.
