Toronto Mayor John Tory Thought Kanye West Was Canadian

Kanye is performing at the closing ceremonies of the Pan Am Games in Toronto.

Following the announcement that Kanye West will be performing at the closing ceremonies of the Pan Am Games next week, Toronto's mayor, John Tory, decided to weigh in on the decision. “I won’t say that I spend every single night at home listening to his music, but, you know what, I’m smart enough to know that a lot of people do,” Tory said. Well, we're off to a good start. He knows that people listen to Kanye West. Let's continue: “And I’m smart enough to know that he’s a proud product of our music industry here, as are a number of others."

The mayor of Toronto really slipped up and said that Kanye West is a proud product of the Canadian music industry. They already have Justin Bieber and Drake, and now they want Kanye? Not happening, Canada. At least Rob Ford knew a little bit about hip-hop.

We're sure he'll kill during that closing ceremony, however, you can't keep him forever. Watch the video for yourself above.
